The Story Behind She’s an Athlete

She’s an Athlete was born from a simple idea:
every woman deserves to feel strong, confident, and proud of what her body can do.

For years, I trained, experimented, learned, and grew — not just physically but mentally. I discovered that strength isn’t only about muscles. It’s also about discipline, resilience, balance, and the belief that you can become a better version of yourself.

I created She’s an Athlete to share that feeling with other women.
To make fitness approachable.
To take away the pressure.
And to help women find joy in movement again.

No extremes.
No perfectionism.
Just progress, confidence, and strength — inside and out.

MY JOURNEY

Hi, I’m Kira — the coach behind She’s an Athlete.
Fitness and sport have always been a huge part of my life, and they’ve shaped not only who I am, but the way I coach today. I grew up around movement — my parents owned a gym, so being in that environment always felt normal to me. And from a young age, everything in my life somehow connected back to sports.

I started playing soccer when I was four years old, and it quickly became my biggest passion. The field was where I felt most at home — where I learned discipline, competitiveness, and how good it feels to challenge yourself and grow.

But even with a strong athletic background, my relationship with my body and with training wasn’t always healthy. Growing up, I often felt insecure about how I looked. I started working out in high school with my mom, but it came from a place of wanting to change my body, not from confidence or joy. Without realizing it, I was developing a really unhealthy relationship with food and with myself.

As I got older and soccer became more competitive, the pressure to perform — and to look a certain way — only got stronger. I earned a scholarship to play Division 1 soccer, which I’m proud of, but the environment made my struggles even harder. With intense training, expectations, and constant comparison, I started losing the love I once had for the sport, and my eating habits became even more difficult.

When I eventually moved back home, I kept playing soccer, but I was still trying to figure out how to feel good in my body. I threw myself into everything — CrossFit, strength training, running, even training for a half marathon. I was doing as much as possible, but my mindset was still focused on trying to be smaller, not stronger.

Somewhere along the way, things finally began to shift.
Not in one moment, but slowly, as I learned more about how my body actually works, what it needs, and how it feels when I support it instead of punish it. I realized I didn’t want to be skinny — I wanted to be strong. I wanted to feel athletic, capable, and confident in my own skin.

And once my mindset changed, everything else changed too.
My training became healthier. My relationship with food improved. And for the first time, I felt connected to my body in a positive, empowering way.

That transformation is exactly why I coach women now.
Because I understand what it feels like to struggle with body image, pressure, and comparison — and I know how powerful it is to finally feel strong, confident, and proud of what your body can do.

My mission is simple:
to help women feel healthy, athletic, confident, and strong — not just thinner.
Because strength changes everything.
